Continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites (CFRTP) is a composite material of high strength, high rigidity and high toughness, which is made by fusing thermoplastic resin as the matrix. Due to its unique advantages of low cost, easy processing, unrestricted storage, rapid forming and recyclable, CFRTP has attracted extensive attention and application in many fields, such as aerospace, high speed train, automobile industry and electronics, and many domestic and abroad R&D units have listed them as key development directions in the future.
In May 2019, the first International Conference on Thermoplastic Composites (CFRTP 2019) was held during the SAMPE China Annual Conference. Dr. Arnt Offringa, director of the R&D center of FOKKER, Netherlands, Dr. Xigao Jian, Academician and Professor in Dalian University of Technology, and Dr. Yang Yang, senior engineer of COMAC Composite Materials Center, were invited to give keynote presentation. In two days, a total of 26 papers were published on thermoplastic matrix materials, modification, interface, prepreg, fiber CFRTP, welding and other bonding technologies and their engineering applications. More than 150 experts and representatives from the United States, the Netherlands, France, Macedonia, China and other countries and regions participated in the seminar on the technical development and future application of this material.
At present, the technology of CFRTP preparation are leading in Germany, Netherlands, Britain and the United States etc. In China, few companies master the technology of CFRTP, but there is still a big gap between China and foreign countries. Therefore, driven by related applications and research units, we plan to build up a platform integrating technical exchange and engineering application of CFRTP 2020 Conference.
